Hope. We try to provide some in these most uncertain times. Five women, five servants, drawn together by God to provide a bit of hope. Here is our ongoing story.
It was mid-March 2020 and our world as we knew it turned upside down. Coronavirus, now a word we know all too well, shattered our world as no single thing has in any recent history.
Thanks to the unbridled tenacity of our pastor, a food ministry was born at our little church. Our pastor’s wife then called on four church members and explained God had provided an opportunity for us to help our community in this crisis.
We all agreed, we could not wait to embark on the plan that God made available for us. For the last 20 weeks, this group has lovingly provided hope to the community through our food distribution ministry.
We see it on the masked faces as they drive through the church parking lot to get their food. They are so incredibly thankful, to the point that they shed tears. They show us their hands held together in thanks and make heart hands through the windows.
We do it right back to them.
They have become our large extended family. We do not even know their names, but our Father God does. Our days tend to begin quite early, but we keep plugging along because it is now a part of each of us.
When we are not together working on this ministry, we are missing each other and the work that we do together. It is back-breaking work, long hours, we get bruised, strain our muscles, and wow, it is hot! But we would not have it any other way.
Countless blessings have been bestowed upon our church, and this food ministry throughout this crisis.
The outpouring of donations of food from so many in the community has been truly amazing! People in the community want to help, but some are unable to because of health issues, so they have donated money to our food ministry fund.
At every turn in this journey, we have laughed, cried, and grown closer to God and each other.
The bond between this group is one of love and respect, and as we continue to march on, we agree to have His plan always at the forefront. And it never lets us down. Never.
Is this not what we are all called to do? To love each other, to be there for each other, and to let each other know that we are not alone in this. God is always by our side, and he loves us! He loves us all so much, and he knows us all by name.
Our work continues, with no end in sight. I know I can speak for us all that we will see this through. We will see God’s plan through.
